This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in the TACOM, Field Support Operations, Fleet Management Expansion, located on Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Perform organizational maintenance and repair on a variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment including construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and power generation. Ensure required tools and materials are available for crew members to perform equipment maintenance. Maintain knowledge on a variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment maintenance procedures in order to check work in-progress of others for compliance. Use Automated Supply/Maintenance Management Systems such as Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army). Use a variety of diagnostic test equipment and a variety of specialized tools to diagnose and repair equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health, ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a military Driver's License to operate vehicles.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: perform organizational maintenance and repair on a variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment including construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and power generation; use a variety of diagnostic test equipment and a variety of specialized tools to diagnose and repair equipment; ability and experience to direct and lead other employees; utilize computers and automated systems to perform core functions of position. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: May be required to work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work frequently requires climbing on top of equipment or crawling under equipment to work on the various components. Incumbent will frequently have to bend, reach, stretch, and crouch. Work is strenuous, often requiring the lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Incumbent will also push, pull, and turn heavy parts and equipment. Moves heavier items with assistance of other workers. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside. The incumbent is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease and vehicle fumes. Incumbent is exposed to some inclement weather such as rain, heat, snow, cold, and freezing temperatures; and may be required to work in muddy and wet or icy areas when outdoors. Subject to burns, scrapes, cuts, bruises, shocks and strain.
