The purpose of this position is to serve as a Program Support Assistant (OA) for Primary Care at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. The incumbent will serve in a developmental level position designed to provide the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences necessary, leading to the target grade level of GS-7. The incumbent will organize work to achieve approved goals, consulting with the supervisor when problems are encountered.

Duties

Duties to include but not limited to the following: The QI Program Support Assistant will independently provide administrative and clerical support in all aspects of Implementation and coordination of the Primary Care QI Program and may provide backup services in the absence of the PCMM Coordinator and/or SLAOPAC. The incumbent works in a collaborative manner with al/ clinical and administrative components within the Primary Care Service Line to prepare, revise, and update performance improvement policies, procedures, and processes. Collaborates with both clinical and IT staff to develop note templates and clinical reminders to ensure service line programs meet measured benchmarks of performance. Provides staff support to the PCT Performance Improvement (PI) Work. Group and the Emergency Department Pl Workgroup. Coordinates performance improvement training for Primary Care staff as appropriate. Coordinates new patient scheduling with other service line clerical staff. Leads utilization and coordination of the process for the recall system. The Incumbent will perform other duties as assigned and required by the Supervisor. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm Telework: Not Eligible Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/28/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. For the GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: having a broad understanding of medical terminology and usage, which covers a wide range of general medical. surgical. pharmaceutical, and hospital terms, knowledge of medical abstracts. and abbreviations. Knowledge of healthcare delivery, the mission of VHA Medical Center policies and procedures, and VHA regulations as they relate to many different clinical functions. Knowledge of CPRS, Microsoft Exchange and other personal computer word processing, spreadsheet, and relational data base programs. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary in nature, Some standing, walking, talking, bending and carrying of books or flies will be required, The employee must be able to work under stress associated with unplanned assignments and deadlines.
