About the Position: This position will serve as a Health Systems Specialist located at Evans Army Community Hospital duty location Fort Carson, CO.

Duties
Provide qualitative and quantitative data on which to make decisions regarding services provided to patients, and to facilitate an efficient utilization management program.
Establish contact with the patients to resolve complaints and address other complications due to scheduling conflicts.
Research appropriate regulation/policies to keep abreast of the latest change in health care management guidance for patients.
Prepare and present reports, charts, and spreadsheets to inform, substantiate, and assist managers in determining the most expeditious and cost-effective strategy for providing health care services.
Monitor the Military Healthcare System (MHS) for trends, analysis, and comparisons, gather and interpret data, making recommendations to the chain of command, Executive Leadership, etc. on findings.
Extract, analyze, summarize, and identify significant trends and issues regarding health care services.
Track the progress of contracts, to include maintaining and processing information to monitor all actions, documentation and utilization of health care provider services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccine and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which demonstrates experience 1) Assisting with managing the day-to-day operations of a medical practice; 2) Monitoring trends in patient services using established databases; and 3) Resolving patient complaints. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
