This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for AcqDemo Business and Technical Management Career Path (NH) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as the Director for Strategic Communications. Responsible for the planning, initiation, direction, coordination, staff supervision, and review of the PEO's strategic communications.
Duties
Responsible for the development and implementation of strategic communications plans, to create an understanding and commitment to the PEO command goals and objectives.
Supports PEO speech writers in coordinating input for speeches and press conference/media interview preparation for PEO leadership.
Plays a vital role in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic communications program.
Performs the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties.
Responsible for understanding and actively supporting the PEO/PM Affirmative Action/EEO Program; ensuring EEO principles are reflected in all aspects of personnel management.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
- This position is subject to extended work hours in the evening, weekend, and holidays.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service that includes: (1) Developing and implementing content communication products such as electronic newsletters, websites, pamphlets and/or other publications; (2) Drafting, reviewing and editing scientific posters, manuscripts, abstracts and/or publication utilizing scientific writing style; and (3) Coordinating and establishing relationships with major news media.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03 or GS-13).
