You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Consolidated Fire and Emergency Services Department of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

Inspect fire apparatus, equipment, and supplies to ensure proper operation. Supervise rescue operations for fire engine companies. Coordinate team members in response with medical aid, multi-casualty incidents, transportation emergencies, hazardous material incidents and environmental concerns to maintain organization. Direct all personnel at major fires or related emergencies to ensure the effectiveness of firefighting operations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Must obtain Strike Team/Task Force Leader within 24 months of appointment.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Operator's permit within 30 days of appointment.
  • You must possess the following firefighter certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, Hazmat Incident Commander, Fire Department Incident Safety Officer.
  • You must possess the following firefighter certifications: IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-700, IS-800
  • You must obtain the following firefighter certification within one year of employment: IS-400
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: the ability to lead and direct special firefighter teams (i.e. swift water rescue, confined space, and hazardous material teams) in wildland fire suppression, structural fire suppression medical aid, multi casualty incidents, transportation emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and environmental concerns. GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-8 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: the ability to lead and direct firefighters in wildland fire suppression, structural fire suppression medical aid, multi casualty incidents, transportation emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and environmental concerns.
