About the Position: Position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Detail not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Promotions or Details may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment not to exceed 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.
Duties
Perform a variety of duties requiring electronic technician skills in support of the repair, overhaul, modification, and/or surveillance testing of electronic components, equipment, and systems.
Provide project leadership and coordination in the development, evaluation, and implementation of technical engineering data for the support of new or recently introduced equipment and systems.
Implement, validate, and correct First Article Tests and Final Engineering Test Procedures on Prototype Systems and components.
Recommend changes as required to hardware/tech data packages to make systems work according to required specifications.
Work with Engineers/Equipment Specialists towards development of complete systems integration.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Business Travel up to 25%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Performing trouble shooting and testing duties of electronic systems and equipment; 2) Working with Engineers/Equipment Specialists towards development of complete systems integration; 3) Creating, reviewing, and modifying technical data packages for manufacturing and fabrication; AND 4) Assisting other technicians with the development and documentation of test procedures.

Education: Applicant must have completed two (2) full years of graduate level education or a master's degree directly related to the work of an Electronics Technician, such as Electronics or Engineering. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
