You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Regulatory Affairs Branch (Code 10633), Environment Division (Code 1063), Occupational Safety Health and Environment Office (Code 106) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will serve as a waterfront inspector for one or more NNSY Environmental Programs.
You will integrate pollution prevention goals into the overall management of the environmental programs
You will investigate, plan, schedule, manage, execute, and report accomplishments and technical direction of broad and difficult environmental technology studies, programs, and projects.
You will establish programs and develop guidelines for the investigation analysis, control, compliance, and improvement of environmental issues of concern.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with establishing programs and develops guidelines for the investigation, analysis, control, compliance, and improvement of environmental issues of concern.
Experience with techniques and methods needed to abate environmental discharges, emissions, and prevent pollution.
Experience with production practices (shop/shipyard) and environmental laws/regulations/objectives concerning pollution prevention and environmental compliance as they relate to the overall mission, functions, equipment and facilities of a major naval shipyard industrial operation.
Experience with substantive (i.e., technical) and procedural (i.e., permits) requirements of environmental laws and regulations issued under such environmental laws as: the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA); Pollution Prevention Act; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA); Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA); and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC).

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
