Serves as Technician In-Depth (TID) providing the highest organizational level of organizational technical support for a multitude of highly complex integrated systems which directly support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy systems.

Duties

This technician position requires the application of knowledge, practices, principles, theories, concepts, methods, techniques, and abilities for the discipline to which the position is classified. Responsibilities may or may not include inspection, oversight, planning, developing, coordinating, deploying, implementing, maintaining, and replacing systems of assigned facilities and/or systems. Incumbent is required to interact with personnel from the FAA Academy and representatives from internal and external to the FAA.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify at the FG/GS 13 (FV-I) level, you must demonstrate in your application you possess one (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to FG/GS 12 (FV-H) level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience includes:Experience providing technical support for one or more of the FAA National Airspace System (NAS) and Next Generation (NextGen) Air Transportation System; Automation, Communication, Environmental, Navigation and Radar systems used to support FAA Academy training.Identifying and analyzing the conditions affecting problems with designing, testing, modifying, troubleshooting, or maintaining systems.Experience determining the interrelationships among electronic components.Experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of UNIX and/or Windows operating systems, computers, servers, network administration, system administration and telecommunications.Experience reading schematic diagrams, drawings, engineering specifications, and manufacturers’ manuals.Conducting analysis and evaluation on training solutions.Identifying issues and making recommendations for improvement; communicating findings and solutions to target audiences.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.
