Serve as Branch Manager for Automation/Communications Branch, AMA-920 with overall authority for administration and technical direction of the branch.

Duties

Serves as Branch Manager for Automation/Communications Branch AMA-920, with overall authority for administration and technical direction of the branch. Branch activities include, but are not limited to the maintenance, repair, installation/decommission and modification of NAS/NextGen Systems in support of the FAA Academy. The branch staff carries out the branch programs, maintains, repairs, installs/decommissions and modifies the systems and test beds used by the FAA Academy in their training requirements and primary mission. This position requires application of knowledge, practices, theories, concepts, methods, techniques, and abilities for the discipline to which the position is classified. Responsibilities include inspection/oversight, planning, developing, coordinating, deploying, implementing, maintaining, and replacing systems. Incumbent is required to interact with personnel from the FAA Academy and other organizations internal and external to the FAA. The Branch Manager reports to the NAS Technical Services Division Manager.

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Successful completion of security investigation may be required.
  • A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-J level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience includes:Developing and/or modifying polices, standards, and procedures for the maintenance, repair, installation, decommission, and/or modification of NAS/NextGen systems.Overseeing the planning, development, coordination, and replacement of systems.Preparing workload projections, equipment replacement, and layout plans to support the FAA Academy training requirements and mission.Applying technical procedures like budget, human resource policies, and administrative procedures.Recommending improvements to improve operational efficiency.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
