About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.

Duties

Serves as the Education Systems Specialist. Provides technical expertise on local implementation and operation of the Local Area Network (LAN). Advises ACES ASG staff and local management officials on education center automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate education center management operations. Solves and/or makes recommendations for solving management problems. Develops requirements for automating and systematizing business processes and areas of reporting currently existing and proposed. Keep all automation equipment up to date, troubleshoot problems, and replace and/or repair equipment as needed. Develops alternative approaches for problem resolution. Maintains property accountability records and key control register.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must hold a IAT level II Certification or higher or obtain the certification within 6 months per DOD 8570.1 Cyber Security.
  • Business Travel is required, as much as 25%.

OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems and Technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional and Performance Support TechnologyInstructional DesignInstructional Program Evaluation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
