You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Deck/Structural/Piping (Code 962B), Planning Branch (Code 962), Production Control/Planning Division (Code 960), Production Department (Code 900), Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Duties

You will develop, plan, and sketch to prepare definitive Formal Work Procedures (FWP), Controlled Work Packages (CWP), creates work specifications and estimates of man-hours and material requirements for MARMC assigned work. You will ensure that the repair work to be performed is assigned the correct level of essentially in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM). You will review designs and completed specifications, detailing all aspects of job planning and execution. You will plan step-by-step work procedures for production ship; designate lead and assist work centers; shop man-hours, and equipment resources required. You will determine material and obtains material quotes/prices for the purpose of procurement. You will plan and establishes overall layouts, drafts, sketches and drawings, applying and computing tolerances, dimensions, clearances, fits, sizes, or other design aspects as required. You will coordinate designs with shops and operating officials to explain or clarify the nature of actions being taken or recommended. You will evaluate quality and adequacy of materials, workmanship, procedures, and processes utilized. You will plan the use of equipment, facilities and materials.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience implementing naval engineering principles and production methods involved in ship repair and overhaul, industrial scheduling, and labor forecasting. Experience using standardized estimating procedures for production and material costs. Experience troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and overhaul on systems and equipment on board U.S. Navy ships and craft. Experience analyzing procedures and methods, writing detailed work procedures, preparing written reports, conducting technical studies and developing sound recommendations. Experience reading and interpreting manufacturer's drawings, blueprints or specifications and developing sketches and drawings when necessary. Experience ordering parts and materials using the federal supply system and acquiring vendor sources and quotes to support materials requirements for purchase. Experience implementing in-depth practical knowledge of inspection methods, techniques and practices of ship repair. Experience implementing technical knowledge of deck machinery, piping, davits, ladders and Structural repairs on board Navy vessels.
