You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FITNESS & SPORTS PROGRAM DIRECTOR in the Moral, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department of NAVAL STATION. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% will be added to the stated salary.

Duties

You will supervise or lead a team by assigning and directing work, monitoring performance, establishing priorities and adjusting workload. You will evaluate performance of support services programs by applying business management principles, commercial practices, or industry trends. You will compare program requirements to budget resources to formulate a regional business strategy. You will resolve programmatic issues affecting the quality of services.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Formulating business management strategies and funding plans to maintain the operation of fitness and sports programs; 2) Overseeing the departments processes and procedures to monitor efficiency, provide enhancements, and adhere to established guidelines of various athletic recreation programs; 3) Organizing and using community resources in order to meet the recreation needs of military and DoD personnel ; and 4) Performing supervisory duties such as managing, organizing, directing, providing technical leadership and guidance, assigning and prioritizing work, position management, evaluating work performance of subordinates and resolving disciplinary issues.
