About the Position: This position is located in Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Director for Administration Dept of Logistics .

Duties

Receives, stores, loads, and unloads a wide range of materials. Checks and assembles materials, processes shipping/distribution documents. Unloads supplies from trucks or other conveyances utilizing forklifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks, etc. Completes routing documents. Maintains material receipt/issue, location, and tracking records utilizing computer terminal. Packs, crates, marks and ensures proper documentation of material for shipment. Determines appropriate method for shipment and distribution of material.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Must frequently lift or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. The heavier items (up to 70 pounds) are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License to obtain a Government driver's license.

Required handling weights up to 50 pounds. Average weights handles are 45 pounds. The distance of carries is from a truck to a pallet during the unloading of supplies. Hand trucks, hand pallets, electrical forklifts, and other personnel serve to assist in loading and unloading operations, and the movement of supplies and material about the storage area. Working Conditions: Work requirements are mostly within the confines of the warehouse. Incumbent is exposed to possible occupational injuries that could result from improper or careless stowage of supplies. Occasionally exposed to injuries that might be sustained in the area where highly flammable material and toxic acids are stored. Possible hazards exist where careless handling of toxic acids would result in breakage. All weather driving conditions. Occasionally exposed to cold/inclement weather in loading and unloading materials.
