About the Position: Serves as Victim Advocate Coordinator for the Family Advocacy Program to provide comprehensive assistance and liaison to and for victims of domestic violence; and to educate personnel on the installation regarding the most effective responses to domestic violence on behalf of victims and at risk family members.
Duties
Provide comprehensive assistance and liaison services to and for abuse victims.
Maintain current information on resources and services to advise victims on reporting requirements and services.
Screen victims of abuse evaluating their needs to provide information about domestic violence, neglect, and safe and confidential ways to seek assistance.
Educate victims, family support groups, community members, and Commands on the prevention of domestic violence and related topics.
Provide follow-up services to victims to ensure that no further intervention is necessary.
Report suspected abuse or neglect cases to proper law enforcement and medical treatment facilities and services as required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiries (CNACI), IAW DoDI 1402.05, AR 608-18 (MPs-NCIC, ASAP, ACR and State Child Protective Services) and Army Directive 2014-23, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- This position requires coverage other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- This position requires participation in 24-hour rotation emergency coverage but not more than 2 or more consecutive weeks at a time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as psychology, sociology, behavioral health, or social work.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) providing comprehensive assistance to and being a liaison for victims of spouse/partner/child abuse; 2) providing eligible family members and/or victims of the military/civilian community of available social and related support services; 3) assessing victims of abuse providing appropriate plan of assistance and/or intervention; and 4) providing educational classes/materials supporting the prevention of domestic violence and related topics to victims, support groups, the military and/or civilian community. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: psychology, sociology, behavioral health, or social work; or related discipline appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
