About the Position: Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 2 years by a current permanent Army employee. This position is located in the Directorate of Family Morale Welfare & Recreation, Army Community Services Division at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Provide readiness and resiliency training for Army Community Services (ACS) such Army Family Team Building (AFTB), Master Resilience Training Programs (MRT), and Army Family Action Plan Installation Community Action Council.
Manage the volunteer service program in compliance with established requirements, standards, and objectives.
Plan and implement all volunteer-related events such as the Quarterly Iron Mike Award, National Volunteer Week, ACS recognitions, Incentive Programs, Monthly Community Action Council, Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Military Family Month.
Assist installation agencies and private organizations with overall management of volunteers.
Implement resiliency-based and readiness services or programs to support Soldiers, Family, Retirees, Survivors, or Civilians.
Provide supervisory oversight for the Army Community Services (ACS) Volunteer Program, the Army Family Action Plan, Community Resilience Working Group, Army Family Team Building (AFTB), and Master Resilience Training (MRT) Programs.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Army Community Service Specialist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Health, or Social Work.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining a multi-functional program implementing social services programs and initiatives; providing self-reliance and readiness education or training using appropriate instructional techniques and methods; planning, organizing, and executing special events and/or activities; and coordinating volunteer services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
