You will serve as a LEAD SPECIAL SECURITY OFFICER of HELICOPTER MARITIME STRIKE WING PAC. Salary Clarification: GS-11: $78,307 - $101,796 GS-12: $93,858 - $122,016

Duties

You will serve as the Lead Special Security Officer (LSSO) encompassing all military, civil service and contractor employees which encompasses COMHSMWP and subordinate commands. You will serve as an advisor to the Commander for all matters pertaining to the security/protection, control and utilization of SCI in support of Director, National Intelligence (DNI) and the National Security Agency (NSA) policy and regulations. You will develop content, and prepare and present, various security awareness lectures and personnel security indoctrinations and debriefings. You will assist the Command Security Manager in command inspections or internal reviews concentrating on information and personnel security requirements/regulations and ensures that deficiencies are corrected. You will provide annual security awareness refresher briefings and also quarterly reading folders containing selected up-to-date security information to command members. You will develop and monitors a procedure/system whereby all command members with access to any level of classified information receive a steady regimen of security awareness lectures, reading material and security educational information. You will provide assistance in developing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring processes and procedures to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the Regional Special Security Directorate.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating and enforcing physical security policies and procedures to resolve issues, safeguard against compromise, and improve the protection of personnel records, security systems, and/or facilities for a security management program. For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing physical security processes and procedures to ensure compliance and identify deficiencies in order to protect personnel records, security systems, and/or facilities for a security management program. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-11 only:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR
Possession of an LL.M., if related;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position being filled.
