You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (NETWORK) in the Information Technology & Cyber Security (ITACS) Office (Code 109) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will configure and optimize network routers, switches, firewalls, and caches. You will analyze and define network requirements. You will monitor the ongoing operation of a complex network environment with a large number of users and ensure corrective action to restore operational service is accomplished. You will adapt and implement systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of network systems required. You will perform local level investigations and evaluations of especially difficult and unresolved issues. You will implement security techniques, procedures and guidance to ensure that user access control (physical, personnel, software, and information security) and other security requirements are in place.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 44-Network Services level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12 Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and defining network requirements, monitoring network capacity and performance, and recommending changes/upgrades of networks including hardware (servers, hubs, bridges, switches, and routers) and software to support organizational objectives. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. GS-11 Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing IT customer support services by identifying, defining, and analyzing a variety of problems related to the testing, installing, configuring, and maintaining networks including hardware (servers, hubs, bridges, switches, and routers) and software to support organizational objectives. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Education

Education for the GS-11 may be substituted for the specialized experience above.

Qualifying education is as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related field.
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related field.

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
