The Electronics Technician applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge as the lead electronics technician for ALSF (Approach Lighting System with Sequence Flashing Lights), MALSR (Medium Approach Light System with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights), VASI (Visual Approach Slope Indicator), REIL (Runway End Identifier Lights) and PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator) system and subsystems, components, test programs providing technical advice and expertise to lower-grade specialist
Duties
Incumbent performs quality assurance inspections to assure acceptable quality of workmanship, materials, parts and proper documentation to comply with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAA), manufacturers specifications, ISO, and ESD requirements. Incumbent repairs, maintains, evaluates, modifies, calibrates, and certifies a wide variety of NAS components and electronic test equipment. Incumbent Identifies, isolates, and repairs malfunctions in NAS systems and the associated hardware/software components of these systems. Incumbent analyzes condition of malfunctioning system components and reasons for the malfunction. Determines required actions to restore system components to normal operating condition, and certifies the components are performing their intended functions. Incumbent inspects tests, calibrates, and evaluates NAS systems and components against standards of performance at the FAA Logistics Center technical repair facility and occasionally in the field.

- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Successful completion of a security investigation will be required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FV-H (GS/FG-12) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G (GS/FG-10/11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes troubleshooting to the LRU and verifying, loading configuration files to RWSL system. Experience troubleshooting, removing/replacing surface mount devices (SMD). Experience troubleshooting and uploading firmware devices to LED PAPI PCA and LHA.Applicant should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History.In addition to the Minimum Qualifications, the following has been determined to be a Quality Ranking Factor for this position. This means well qualified candidates will have demonstrated the following:Quality Ranking Factor: Well-qualified candidates will have experience and applied technical knowledge of at least one Visual Approach Lighting System. (VASI, ODALS, MALSR, REIL. PAPI. ALSF).ANDPre-employment Physical Requirements: You must be able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to yourself or others. Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.
