You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the ???????NETC Headquarters, Information Technology Department (N6) of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION N6.

Duties

You will perform risk assessments of information systems to develop new approaches in resolving security issues. You will research and analyze law, regulation, policy, guidance, and user requirements to determine the document format. You will brief senior leaders on problematic trends and patterns (e.g., technology maturity, availability, costs, risks) in an information technology (IT) program. You will write information assurance (IA) policies to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, network, and data.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Applying methods for evaluation, implementing, and disseminating cybersecurity tools and procedures. 2. Monitoring and evaluating compliance with cybersecurity requirements to provide advice and guidance in implementing cybersecurity policies and procedures. 3. Developing Cybersecurity test plans for security testing of DON information systems in the unclassified and classified domains in accordance with (IAW) National, Department of Defense (DoD), and DON requirements. 4. Recommending safeguards and protections to manage and mitigate risk in accordance with applicable policy to improve the security of information systems. and 5. Applies physical access controls, technical security countermeasures, classification, and safeguarding of controlled information and operational security. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area (722) Information Systems Security Manager level II within 12 months of appointment. This designation requires the incumbent to: 1. Obtain the foundational qualification within nine months and the residential qualification within 12 months of appointment and maintain those credentials as described in DoDM 8140.03 for DCWF role of (722) Information Systems Security Manager at the proficiency level of intermediate. For more information, please review DoDM 8140.03 and supporting DON policies. 2. Participate in continuous professional development program as described in DoDM 8140.03. An annual 20-hour minimum of Cyber Workforce related continuous professional development must be documented and completed in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor. Continuous professional development begins in the fiscal year after the employee has obtained both foundational and residential qualification requirements. Failure to meet a condition of employment may result in disciplinary and/or adverse action up to removal from federal service.
