You will serve as a DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR OPERATIONS in the Operations, Training, and Readiness Directorate of COMMANDER US PACIFIC FLEET.

Duties

You will advise the Commander of the Pacific Fleet and Director of the Maritime Operations Center with respect to planned operations, current operations, Ballistic Missile Defense /Integrated Air and Missile Defense, and Homeland Security. You will coordinate and direct the employment of fleet forces and prepare necessary operations orders, movement orders and policy directives. You will coordinate operations of the Pacific Fleet to maintain operational and combat readiness. You will determine capabilities necessary to conduct planned operations in all phases of naval warfare. You will support Fleet exercises designed to attain progressive improvement in Fleet capabilities and engagement with foreign countries.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience utilizing expertise of theater operations (e.g., Theater Joint Maritime Component Commander operations and concepts, operational and contingency response options and requirements, service doctrine, joint doctrine, operational plans, command relationships, joint planning process, ballistic missile defense) to analyze operational employment of air, space, surface and subsurface assets and accomplish operations, contingencies, and fleet missions.
