About the Position: The Health Systems Specialist position is located in Tripler Army Medical Clinic, Honolulu Hawaii. This position assists with credentials/privileging program objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements throughout the Command.
Duties
Attend committee meetings and present providers' credentials.
Develop standard operating procedures for credentialing program.
Coordinate interactions with local, state, federal agencies responsible for credential privileging of independent healthcare providers.
Establish mechanisms to track health care providers.
Provide guidance and education to medical staff.
Manage the credentialing and privileging process for healthcare providers.
Create, edit, monitor, and manage provider credentialing and privileging files and data systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting form.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience: which includes: 1) providing information on matters pertaining to credentials or privileging actions, 2) conducting reviews or audits to correct deficiencies or improve operations, 3) analyzing information to prepare reports, and 4) establishing methods to track data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
