About the Position: This position is under the Quality Management Department located at Tripler Army Medical Center, which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Position is filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 Years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Position may be made permanent without further competition. This is an obligated position.

Duties

Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignment, and the capabilities of employees. Exercise personal leadership in establishing, maintaining, and carrying out a continuing affirmative action program designed to promote equal employment opportunity in every aspect of personnel practice of employees. Is the administrator for the credentials and privileging program ensuring that privileged health care providers are qualified and competent to meet the complex, diverse medical needs and to achieve and maintain accreditation by The Joint Commission. Make recommendations to the Command based on analysis of new requirements and articulates impacts to the organization. Provide consultation services to the Command and subordinate facilities on interpretation and development of the requirements within the Credentialing/Privileging arena.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations. The appointee is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • Current permanent Federal employees applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
