About the Position: This position serves as Emergency Training and Exercise Specialist located Directorate of Emergency Services, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord WA.

Duties

Responsible for drafting, coordinating, establishing, implementing and/or facilitate training and exercise programs for emergency preparedness. Updating and continual training of the staff to maintain proper stare of readiness and preparedness. Provide support to emergency operations in an emergency operations center. Develops in coordination with Emergency Management Branch Chief, training policies and exercise plans in order to meet national and local emergency and mobilization missions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires that the incumbent must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • You may be expected to travel up to 5% for this position.
  • This position requires Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)(L-0146) certificate.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience includes experience in planning and coordinating emergency management exercises using the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) process.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementEducation and TrainingPublic Safety and SecurityTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
