This position is part of the Agency Support Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
Providing effective and efficient inventory control and accountability. Preparing and submitting a weekly analysis of system deficiencies for appropriate actions and corrections.
Reviewing and evaluating daily and monthly inventory reports to determine the accuracy and performing required actions to resolve order discrepancies.
Providing information and advice regarding forecasting future stock requirements, inventory reviews and analysis, stock levels, and delivery dates of incoming shipments.
Reviewing purchase orders, requests, and other documents for proper and correct updating of the inventory database prepare necessary documentation on all out-of-balance conditions.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.

- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Inventory Management Specialist, PG -2010-7/9, you must meet the following requirements:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-05 or higher grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include:
Assisting in the analysis of various reports pertaining to inventory management;
Entering data and processing documents into an inventory management system; and
Assisting with researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues regarding inventory discrepancies.
-OR- Possess one (1) full year of graduate level education; OR Superior academic achievement - A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA). SAA is based on a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0; class standing in the upper third of graduating class; or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
-OR- Possess a combination of both, specialized experience and graduate education described above. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-07 or higher grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include:
Analyzing of various reports pertaining to inventory management;
Entering data and processing documents into an inventory management system;
Utilizing automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; and
Researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues regarding inventory discrepancies.
OR- Possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full academic years of graduate level education leading to such a degree or a LL.B or J.D. degree, if related. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR- Possess a combination of both, specialized experience and graduate education described above. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Transcripts: If qualifying based on education or combination of experience and education, you must submit unofficial transcripts or list of courses that includes school attended, school address, course titles, grades earned, completion dates, department, and quarter/semester hours earned.
NOTE: Official transcripts are not required at the time of application; if you are selected, you must provide official transcripts before you start work.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
