You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Mechanical) in the Public Works Business Line, Facilities Management and Sustainment Product Line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will research, interpret, analyze and implement standards and procedures. You will utilize Direct Digital Control (DDC) concepts and operating systems such as, but not limited to, Metasys (Johnson Controls), Automated Logic, and Siemens. You will utilize HVAC systems, electronic temperature, humidity sensors, current transmitters, variable frequency inverters, air quality, and other electronic sensors. You will utilize facility mechanical systems including HVAC systems (to include integrated control systems). Uses engineering schematics, knowledge of software, computer generated graphics, database information and a wide array of DDC programs. You will review, interpret and troubleshoot using technical documents, to include Navy Codes/Standards, engineering drawings and specifications, and Operations and Maintenance manuals. You will gather, process, and evaluate data from maintenance activities through the command’s computerized maintenance management system, MAXIMO.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Analyzing, studying, and calculating solutions for problems connected with a HVAC system; 2) Developing and programing building controls related to HVAC systems including Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems; 3) Assisting with designing and implementing a proactive maintenance program for complicated mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems by integrating preventative and predictive maintenance technologies; 4) Performing life cycle cost analysis, developing replacement cost, and determining failure probability; 5) Providing expert consultations and recommendations for improvements to the program during field investigations; and 6) Updating MAXIMO (or similar system) records with HVAC system information and ensuring accuracy of existing records. For GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Conducting analysis and design related to HVAC equipment; 2) Performing life cycle cost analysis, developing replacement cost, and determining failure probability; 3) Conducting field investigations to determine nature and condition of existing facilities; and 4) Gathering data from maintenance activities though the command's computerized maintenance management system, MAXIMO.
