Duties
You will serve as an expert consultant and furnish technical advice to field personnel concerning the intent and application of detail specification and military
specification requirements to non-nuclear power piping and propulsion equipment.
You will provide surveillance of Contractor design and production engineering products.
You will conduct surveillance of Contractor engineering practices to the extent necessary to demonstrate that the Contractor is meeting contract and specification requirements.
You will review and prepare proposed engineering contract changes to determine that the proposed change contains sufficient specifications to insure clarity, correctness, and engineering feasibility of arrangement and/or installation guidance plans.
You will evaluate, monitor and report on Contractor engineering efforts in accordance with contract terms.
You will evaluate new designs and systems and determine their acceptability and/or compliance with the intent of the specifications.
You will review and analyze incoming correspondence and preparation of outgoing technical correspondence.
You will make recommendations concerning the adequacy of specifications when requested by Program/Project Managers.
You will evaluate the adequacy of the contractor’s engineering data control systems to provide assurance that it results in timely incorporation of data changes.
You will review test procedures for new material and devices in order to improve safety/cost/delivery.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an engineering technician providing guidance on the application of detail specification or military specification requirement (e.g. test plans, design review, or contractor surveillance) pertaining to shipboard auxiliary machinery or systems.
