You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the SUBSAFE Program Office, Engineering Department of SUPSHIP.
Duties
You will, as a Deputy to the SUBSAFE Program Director (SSPD), plan, develop, and administer program
responsibilities, technical oversight, associated programmatic and administrative tasks pertaining to
SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS.
You will assure that products, tools, and processes meet Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), SUPSHIPNN,
and other applicable technical, programmatic, and administrative requirements.
You will determine and ensure implementation of goals and objectives, solve problems, and ensure
contractor performed work meets standards of adequacy and is in compliance with the technical and
programmatic requirements invoked by the contract.
You will determine the acceptability of the contractor’s SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, FBW SCS programs and
make recommendations to command and NAVSEA leadership for acceptance of non-compliances, audit
findings, and process improvements.
You will provide support for critical SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS Certification events for submarines
and Deep Submergence Systems.
You will represent the SUBSAFE Program Director in various forums, meetings, and working groups including serving as the Acting Program Director in the absence of the Program Director.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing or implementing tasks associated with submarine and deep submergence systems construction, repair, overhaul, or testing in support of the Submarine Safety Program (SUBSAFE), Deep Submergence Systems - Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC) Program, and Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems (FBW SCS) Program.
