You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering Department, SUBSAFE Program Office of SUPSHIP.
Duties
You will plan, develop, and administer program responsibilities, technical oversight and associated administrative tasks pertaining to SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC and FBW SCS for all contracts assigned to the activity.
You will provide program review, program evaluation, resource allocations, conduct special studies and coordinate technical planning in shipyard by relating current needs with projected requirements.
You will plan production processes, personnel qualification, requirements, inspection test, and objective quality evidence requirements associated with certifying SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS components, equipment and systems.
You will develop and establish guidelines for others to follow, being guided only by broad policy and principles of the branch of engineering.
Requirements

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band NJ-03 (GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading administrative and technical engineering repair or modernization efforts to improve safety requirements for an in-service submarine or ship program.
