About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Patient Administration, Honolulu Hawaii.
Duties
Counsels military personnel from all branches of the uniformed services, retirees, and the Families of those being processed through the Physical Disability Evaluation System on their rights, benefits, privileges, or obligations.
Maintains and safeguards both hard copy and electronic medical information. Releases medical information to authorized personnel in accordance with established guidelines.
Assists in preparing appeals, rebuttals, and coordinates the assignment of Soldier's legal counsel.
Ensures that the Soldier understands his obligations to respond to the findings of the Informal/Formal Board within the prescribed time frame.
Tracks all assigned cases, analyzes performance against established metrics, analyzes available data using various statistical analytic tools, construction of diagrams, histograms, bar and pie charts to convey ideas related to PDES processing events.
Provides statistical information to MTF/Regional Medical Commands /Medical Command on the status of MEB/Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) processing effectiveness, resourcing, and other related managerial and congressional purposes.

- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes advising military personnel on benefits or obligations going through the medical evaluation process; advising personnel in all phases of a medical evaluation process; and using automation systems to update databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as: Major study -- Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
