About the Position: This position is located at Tripler Army Medical Center in the Department of Behavioral Health. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Duties

Manage day-to-day operations of the department. Advise leadership on issues affecting quality, safety, and customer service. Utilize a working knowledge of healthcare administration and business practices to maximize efficiency. Review and make recommendations for all office purchases, temporary duty (TDY) requests, training, and other expenditures. Collaborate with front desk staff to ensure appropriate protocols and scripts are in place to support the department. Identify and analyze staffing requirements. Assists in the development of an effective personnel management program. Advise the leadership team on such civilian personnel matters.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or travel requirement for meetings5% of the time.
• This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Analyzing data to identify deficits and/or improvements; 2) Coordinating services for individuals and/or groups; 3) Advising on personnel practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
