About the Position: The US Army Garrison serves the Soldier and collaborates with Army science and research by providing excellent laboratory facilities and support services.

Duties

Serves as Plans and Operations Division Operations Specialist in the Directorate of Operations (DoO). Coordinates operational staff actions directed by the Chief, Plans and Operations Division. Represents the Plans and Operations Division at garrison meetings and briefings involving operational issues. Prepares briefings and reports on the status of operational issues and policies affecting the garrison or other supported units. Prepares and publishes operations orders and tasking for installation special events, ceremonies, inspections, policies, and community relations programs. Performs a wide range of administrative and analytical duties formulating, presenting, and executing the Operations Branch mission. Coordinates installation operations with higher, lower and adjacent headquarters and coordinates installation staff efforts supporting ongoing operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires employee to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Employee may be required to serve on rotating shifts during emergencies or training exercises.
  • Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall to perform emergency response duties. May include tour(s) of duty on weekends or nights to support training for or during actual emergency operations.
  • Position requires employee to obtain and maintain a valid state and government passenger vehicle driver license.
  • Travel outside local commuting area may be required up to 25%.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 which includes: 1) assisting with analyzing problems by researching data utilizing various automation tools/programs; 2) submitting reports using data collection and/or analysis techniques; 3) providing recommendations on the utilizations of resources during a crisis situation, AND 4) Preparing briefings or reports on status of operational issues to a garrison, organization, or command to senior leaders. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
