About the Position: National Guard Bureau, CTR G-1 Personnel Policy Division, Arlington, VA. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C., Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Compose correspondence to higher headquarters and other military agencies to clarify personnel matters. Respond to complex issues/problems that require expert advice and/or authoritative policy interpretation. Recommend changes to established organizational procedures and practices in order to resolve recurring problems or issues. Conduct policy reviews in order to evaluate the effectiveness of current organizational policies and practices.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilize a vast range of military personnel program relationships and various specific programs to resolve organizational policy issues; initiate actions resulting from high headquarters and/or field inquiries on past case decisions or other non-routing circumstances; provide interpretation and instruction to organizational branches on laws, regulations, and policies for Title 10 and/or Title 32 programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision SupportProgram ManagementStrategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
