This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations Office of the Facility Manager, Supreme Court Buildings and Grounds, Operations and Maintenance Division. The AOC has the responsibility to the Judicial Branch for the structural and mechanical care of the Supreme Court Buildings and Grounds to ensure the safety and security of the Justices, Court personnel, and visitors, and to make improvements to the existing facility and grounds.
Duties
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Office of the Facility Manager, Supreme Court Buildings and Grounds, Operations and Maintenance Division. The purpose of this position is to obtain equipment, tools, supplies, and materials and to maintain an inventory control system.Performs storeroom and equipment inventory management functions.Receives materials when they are delivered. Delivers material to shops or stocks in storeroom as appropriate to usage. Ensures material is signed for and input properly into inventory system.Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, batteries, electrical material, plumbing parts and fixtures, light bulbs, steam traps, paint and other expendable items.Conducts spot checks of inventory stored in the shops for accuracy and compliance with storage guidelines. Reports all discrepancies to supervisor.Identifies inventory management problems encountered and recommends solutions to resolve them.Meets with shop supervisors to determine and review inventory levels. Evaluates current inventory techniques used by the shops and makes recommendations to improve their inventory management practices. Receives and resolves complaints from the shops. Provides training and assistance to users of automated inventory management systems.Identifies and prepares statistical data for reports. Designs and develops new data reports as required and customizes reports to meet the needs of the shops.Purchases equipment, supplies, materials, and tools for the construction, maintenance and renovation functions of the Operations and Maintenance Division.Receives orders for supplies from various internal and external stakeholders. Orders items from suppliers. Verifies orders and clarifies disputed items, inputs orders into computerized systems, checks on the progress of filling orders, logs in items when they are delivered, stores materials in proper areas, and follows up on delivery and supply problems. Uses credit card and financial management systems to purchase supplies and materials. Collects and compiles purchase and inventory data. Prepares recurring and special purchasing reports. Provides technical item information to AOC procurement specialists in support of inventory management and tracking of government assets. Adheres to small business set aside policies, Supplies, Services and Material Management Division (SSMMD) procurement manual policies and instructions and competition requirements for various dollar thresholds. Conducts reconciliation of credit card and ensures accurate accounting and documentation in FMS, TMA and credit card file.The incumbent must follow all relevant safety rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Must utilize knowledge of and must comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner. Receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that all safety practices and equipment are fully utilized. Must ensure the use of any required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Specialized experience: is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Candidates for the GS-09 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes the following:(1) Performing analytical work to manage, regulate and control the level and flow of materials, supplies and equipment through acquisition, storage and inventory management.(2) Resolving conventional inventory management problems, questions and situations in a supply operation.(3) Monitoring established supply systems and programs.(4) Performing independent reviews and making recommendations involving well-established acquisition criteria, methods, techniques and procedures.
