About the Position: This position is with the Directorate of Emergency Services located at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. APG Sits on more than 72,500 acres in Harford County, MD and offers recreation, sports, golf, pools, child/day care facilities. The area offers housing, public, private & parochial school systems, and major colleges. APG is a great place to live, work and play at the top of the Bay.
Duties
In this position you will serve as a Supervisory Operations Specialist with a duty station of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Responsible for supporting senior leadership in matters of planning, documenting, and executing operations for the organization.
Supervising a team of personnel assigned to the branch. Providing guidance and information on operational issues.
Analyzing operations, procedures and organization/ structure of the IMCOM and makes recommendations for improvements.
Recommends new or updated policies and procedures for the organization.
Oversees and serves as a functional expert for tasking responsibilities to ensure appropriate assignment and timely completion.
Requirements
- This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position requires up to 15% Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).
- The employee may be required to work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or on an emergency basis. The employee may be recalled to duty from scheduled time off or required to be on call.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Writing operational orders in support the mission, or writing reports on the execution of orders, 2) Establishing operational policies or briefings, AND 3) Manning an Emergency Operations Center during emergencies, or natural and man-made crisis events. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).
