About the Position: The Army Review Boards Agency, on behalf of the Secretary of the Army, serves as the highest administrative level for review of personnel actions taken by lower levels of command. Applications are received from military personnel, enlisted and officer, including Army Reserve, National Guard and Regular Army, their heirs or legal representative.
Duties
Reviews formal applications to the Board, to determine if jurisdictional and procedural requirements have been met, if supporting material to adjudicate the case is adequate, and if action taken by the Army was warranted.
Examine and analyze applications for the correction of military records and present comprehensive summaries of cases to the Army Board for Corrections of Military Records (ABCMR).
Apply very high level of knowledge and skill in review and analysis of problem cases which are complex or difficult because solutions are likely to be particularly controversial.
Organize, plan, set/adjust work priorities and review written products for staff.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting research, interpreting and applying military personnel regulations and procedures to inquiries and requests; presenting findings and decisions in a clear and concise response; and experience negotiating with various groups to affect satisfactory solutions to matters of a controversial nature. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
