Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Grants Management Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Working effectively with grantee staff in responding to questions and resolving problems.
Providing information to applicants and grantees on the grants process, regulatory requirements, and issuing surrounding individual applications.
Preparing award notices for approval by higher-level specialists and assisting in ensuring that the awardee is in compliance with established administrative and financial policies, procedures, and sound business practices.
Formatting and preparing reports, e.g., periodic status reports for management staff, which indicate deviations from normal operating procedures and preparing memoranda as required.
Reviewing grant applications that are limited in functional scope and complexity.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with program staff.
Keeping supervisors and staff informed of administrative issues and developments.
** Duties as shown are at the full performance level (FPL) of the GS-09. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the FPL.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
For GS-7:
Experience: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following:
Assisting with monitoring grant actions using automated grant tracking/management system.
Assisting with and reviewing grant pre-award, award, and/or post award activities.
Reviewing grant documents (e.g. proposals, grants, cooperative agreements, and other related instruments) for adherence to grants policies and regulations.
Assisting with administrative procedures such as record keeping, updating SOPs and other internal documents, financial management, procurement, or personnel.
Using a variety of computer software applications such as Adobe, MS Excel, Access, Word, Etc. to prepare documents, reports, correspondence, etc.

Education: Successful completion of at least one (1) full year (18 semester/27 quarter credits) of progressively higher-level graduate education in an accredited U.S. education program. You must include transcripts.

For GS-9:
Experience: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following:
Conducting financial analyses of grants or cooperative agreements.
Providing technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders on grants or cooperative agreements.
Analyzing financial information and monitoring financial status of grants operations.
Reviewing data to determine whether applicants submitted acceptable administrative and fiscal documents.

Education: Successful completion of at least a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years (36 semester/54 quarter credits) of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. You must include transcripts.
