This position is in the Veterans Experience Section at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. The Visitor Screening is the first step in the Veteran Experience. The purpose for this position is to ensure screening protocols are performed for visitors and staff entering the facility as well as provide appointment verification and location assistance, answer general questions, provide directions, and welcome visitors with visible excellent customer service.
Duties
Greet visitors and employees entering medical center to improve veteran experience.
Provides Visitors way-finding assistance and answering general questions
Verifies Veteran appointments to validate need to enter Medical Center
Distributes information/education brochures to Veterans
Transports patients to locations within the facility catchment area as needed.
Assists Veterans with My HealtheVet registration and identity authentication
Distribute and balance workload among employees
Establishes priorities while assisting supervisor with any ongoing problems
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 11:00am-7:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-05 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:experience using screening protocols to ensure all people entering the medical center meet the criteria for entrance. Greeting and directing vendors and veterans to their desired location. Knowledge of how to carry out procedures, or of a type of business practice such as maintaining inventory records and replenishing supplies; or of a body of standardized rules, processes, or operations.
Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-05 level. Four (4) years of education above high school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Requirements: Duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Requires regular and recurring bending, lifting, reaching, carrying, stooping, stretching, similar activities and driving an automobile.
