About the Position: Serves as Logistics Management Specialist for the Army Field Support Battalion (AFSBn) - Modernization, Displacement and Repair Site (MDRS) Division, responsible for analysis of installation wide logistics readiness posture in terms of equipment status, supply support capabilities, and regulatory policy and guidance necessary to achieve the highest level of readiness. This is a TERM not to exceed 13 MONTHS position.

Duties

Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist on logistics system management and/or policies and procedures with the responsibility of integrating the supply, transportation and maintenance functions into a unified logistics program. Conducts analysis of Modernization, Displacement and Repair Site (MDRS) logistics operational data and trends, developing documents, findings, conclusions and recommends Courses of Action (COA) to improve performance and reduce cost. Determines deficiencies in the logistics chain which affect optimum readiness. Analyzes a wide logistics readiness posture in terms of equipment status, supply support capabilities, and regulatory policy and guidance necessary to achieve the highest level of readiness. Primary point of contact on all logistics matters involving Modernization, Displacement and repair Site (MDRS) Readiness Status reporting, transportation, maintenance, and supply management assistance. Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems. Plans for the allocation of resources, obligation and distribution of funds, use and disposition of government property for specific maintenance program responsibilities. Provides recommendations for the overall distribution of funds for the maintenance mission. Analyzes databases which describe such factors as equipment, parts, location/availability, work order status, readiness/breakdown rates, replacement/repair times, trends, maintenance/repair, and short-term planning for mission support or operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 months. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) coordinating supply, transportation and maintenance support; and 2) managing logistics readiness such as equipment management, supply support, and property accountability; and 3) interpreting logistics operational data and trends to recommend actions and/or conclusions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
