Duties
If selected for this position, you will be responsible for performing docketing and complex legal report development using computerized case tracking and record-keeping systems for the District of Arizona. Typical duties include:
Serving as a source of procedural and systemic information on all aspects of docketing functions;
Functioning as the docketing system subject matter expert and training other employees on related processes and procedures;
Maintaining and extracting data from automated docketing databases and systems;
Inputting information into databases and systems and updating records;
Developing and maintaining automated records from initial referral to final disposition and case file closure;
Receiving and reviewing incoming case files and documents; analyzing content to determine the nature of the office's interest and cause of action.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
GS-06: To be eligible at the GS-06 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level.
Specialized experience is defined as performing clerical and administrative support duties of a variety of pleadings; performing the entry of data into the electronic file and case tracking systems; reviewing reports to identify recurring errors; identifying errors of documents or case records; assisting with conducting periodic case certification reviews; and producing reports from information within the database.
GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-07 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level.
Specialized experience is defined as using advanced automation techniques to extract legal data from automated databases; utilizing legal support processes and court proceedings to review reports and identifying recurring errors; conducting periodic case certification reviews; and producing complex reports and documents from different software types such as tables, charts and graphs.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
