Duties

This position will allow you to perform a variety of general clerical duties and provide administrative support to managers and staff. In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by joining a valuable team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include: Assisting in responding to and interacting with the public to convey standard information on the mission of CBP and preparing press releases and in planning for public affairs campaigns, e.g., arranges for meeting space and drafts handouts. Assisting in receiving and apportioning budget allocations for the organization following established criteria. Leading the annual physical inventory of nonexpendable property and equipment, reconciles discrepancies, and maintains documentation. Acting as a liaison between the organization and the CBP Hiring Center and Processing Center and providing assistance to higher graded Mission Support Specialist with various Human Resources procedures. Establishing, maintaining and monitoring a variety of records and statistical data regarding the administrative services provided.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating, developing, and disseminating information material to various target audiences using all types of available media including radio, television, workshops, and seminars, using printed material, posters, etc. Assisting in preparing budget requests by compiling data and by preparing justification statements based on information provided. Maintaining contact with offices in order to resolve routine problems and determine their causes. Assisting with routine administrative matters, maintaining databases, identifying trends or patterns, and compiling narrative/data reports. Assisting with the annual physical inventory of nonexpendable property and equipment, reconciles discrepancies, and maintains documentation.
