This position is located within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), Western Region (WR), Weather Forecast Office (WFO) with one vacancy in each location: Salt Lake City, UT Seattle, WA Pocatello, ID Tucson, AZ Oxnard, CA Portland, OR San Diego, CA This position is also announced under vacancy # NWS-24-12391149-ST, which is open to Status Candidates. Duties

As an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) , you will perform the following duties: Provide quality control screening of all supervisor's incoming and outgoing correspondence. Act as a liaison with the National Weather Service (NWS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrative Support Offices on all administrative matters. Provide administrative support to staff and supervisors, including overseeing time and attendance, personal actions, travel, and personal property. Schedule appointments and arrange for time, participants, and locations of meetings in accordance with instructions from supervisor or other higher graded personnel. Initiate and monitor processing of purchase orders for recurring and nonrecurring service contracts, equipment, and supplies; and advise supervisor of budgetary discrepancies or impending shortfalls; maintain budget record, monitoring commitments, obligations, and funding requirements. *These duties are described at the full performance level of the GS-08; the GS-07 is developmental leading to such performance.

Qualifications

This handbook is available on the Office of Personnel Management's website located at: https://www.opm.gov/policy SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-07 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: - Preparing administrative correspondence for an office, such as reports, technical papers, messages or other documents; and - Coordinating logistics for meetings, conferences, presentations, or appointments. To qualify at the GS-08 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: - Performing administrative support functions for an office including coordinating travel logistics, office automation, and tracking budgetary or financial actions. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Fully qualified typist skill is required. Skill in operating office automation hardware equipment, software systems, and other office machines; must type at minimum of 40 WPM.
