About the Position: This position is located in Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, CO. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the credentialing manager of the hospital.
Duties
Exercise independent judgement in performing work of unusual difficulty and responsibility in this highly technical field.
Provide assistance to regional offices primarily for the unusual or controversial issues that are covered by the regulation or other guideline.
Oversee the credentialing/privileging process at the hospital to include 18 subordinate clinic locations.
Supervise clerical and administrative personnel.
Conduct technical writing and meets legal requirements for documentation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required (NACI).
- This position requires a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccine and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated/documented experience in 1) providing expertise and guidance to staff members concerning credentialing/privileging process; 2) analyzing variety of processes, procedures and practices to identify opportunities; 3) assisting supervisor/management in developing short and long term goal; 4) applying laws, policies and regulations in credentialing/privileging processes; AND 5) Experience in technical writing and meeting legal requirements for documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education Substitution: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position such as hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
