Duties
This position is located under the Office of Enforcement Programs and Services (EPS), National Firearms Act Division (NFA), located in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Qualifications
Individual Occupational Requirement: You must meet the following Individual Occupational Requirement:
Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR,
Experience: Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
Supervising or administering a training program.
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) as listed above, you may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
For the GS-7, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-5.
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Examples of specialized experience include:
Assists with developing training material and/or products; and
Participates with the planning and developing instructional program schedules, implements guidelines and assists with curriculum development.
OR
Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level. ORsuperior academic achievement (SAA). Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
OR
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond a bachelor's degree may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-07 level.
For the GS-9, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-5.
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Examples of specialized experience include:
Reviews and evaluates material for suitability, compliance with appropriate procedures and educational and training adequacy.
Implements training plans, programs of instruction and lesson plans.
Participates in task analyses for determining training requirements or in special staff studies of training and testing materials.
Reviews procedures to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
OR
Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR Two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR a LL.B. or J.D., if related. To be qualifying, major study must be in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
OR
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet the experience requirements.
