The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as AETC Command Network Engineer with responsibility for managing the command AF Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications Systems (JWICS) and Network/Wide Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN).

Duties
1. Manages the Command's LAN/WAN systems and oversees LAN operations, development of new network systems, and fielding/configuration/installation of Intelligence Community-related hardware/software.
2. Administers the Command Risk Management Framework (RMF) Program and protects Information Technology (IT) assets against unauthorized, accidental, or deliberate modification, disclosure, and destruction of data.
3. Keeps abreast of emerging technology to predict future network needs.
4. As a senior IT specialist, participates in management discussions, meetings, committees, or special projects.

Qualifications
This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
NOTE: You must meet both the Basic Qualifications and Specialized Experience requirements stated below:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of a wide range of Information Technology concepts, principles, and practices sufficient to manage the command (AETC) JWICS networks and extended experience and expertise combined with intensive practical knowledge of the Network Services and Information Security aspects of IT.Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements.
2. Knowledge of the network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols.
3. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems.
4. Knowledge of complex configuration management techniques, and requirements appropriate to managing Command-level network systems.
5. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems; and to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and computer applications from an operational perspective.
6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
7. Knowledge/Expertise in security disciplines that affect AF JWICS including: physical, personnel, computer, and the Risk Management Framework.
