About the Position: as Victim Advocate (SHARP)(SAR WF) is located at 16 MP BDE, Fort Liberty, NC. Fort Liberty is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC, centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.
Duties
Conducts command Consultations.
Refers victims to other community services as required to include hotline services and individual support to victims at the point of service.
Understands and anticipates the nature of the position requiring off-duty hour support to include a 24-hour rotation for advocacy services to victims.
The Victim’s Advocate (VA) provides professional and comprehensive advocacy services to individuals exhibiting a wide variety of issues related to being a complainant, victim or survivor of sexual harassment or sexual assault.
Conducts assessments with clients to determine required needs and evaluates safety and levels of risk.
Assesses the urgency of cases and develops a plan for assistance.
Develops and implements an appropriate plan of action in crisis situations. Maintains contact with clients through follow-up support for ongoing needs related to coping with harassment and assault incident(s).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- Incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- he duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
- Incumbent requires to obtain and maintain the DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP) within six months of employment.
- Incumbents of SHARP positions must complete all required training, obtain certification, and be placed on appointment orders prior to having any victim contact or access to victim information.
- Background checks will be conducted, prior to entering on duty in the position and, IAW governing regulations, on a recurring basis while employed in the position.
- This position requires the incumbent to submit to a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check for all states of residence in the previous five and/or up to ten years.
- Five years or more providing SH/SA advocacy services in the military or private sector is preferred.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- that provided the application with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment. 2). Conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks. 3). Recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services. AND 4). Maintaining partnerships in the community; and conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education
