This position will serve as the Transformer Technician In Depth (TID) for the AJW-L970 Transformer and Power MRO Shop.

Duties

Serves as an independent contributor as a technician in-depth (TID), and a contributing specialist on large work activities, or as a team leader for single or small work activities. May provide formal on-the -job training or instruction to less experienced technicians. Performs highly specialized technical varying and complex assignments associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, reverse engineering or evaluating the complex National Airspace Systems (NAS) to include electromagnetic equipment and power equipment that AJW-L970 maintains for the NAS. Applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge of assigned disciplines and specialties. Understands how assigned systems, components, and disciplines are integrated with other systems and components.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-H (GS/FG-12) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G (GS/FG 10-11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.Specialized Experience includes experience analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, reverse engineering or evaluating National Airspace Systems (NAS); developing new drawings; interpreting complex circuit diagrams and drawings. Engineering specifications, manufacturers manuals, electronic equipment modifications, and field changes; performing routine assembly/disassembly of dry and oil filled transformers, soldering/de-soldering of transformers, high voltage testing of transformers, operating a winding lathe and handling of insulating oils.Applicant should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History.ANDPre-employment Physical Requirements: You must be able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to yourself or others. Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.
