About the Position: TACOM is located in Southeastern Michigan, North of Detroit with nearby universities, world-class museums, art galleries, concert halls, golf courses, and collegiate and professional athletic venues. The Soldier is truly the focus of everything we do. May be assigned to work at TACOM offices on Detroit Arsenal, Garrison, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, or a TACOM leased private facility within the Detroit Metro Area.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Advises the Commanding General, the G-3 and senior leadership of all sensitive issues regarding incoming actions and provides staff elements with any specific instructions or comments from senior leadership, and agencies outside the organization.
Writes, edits, and briefs information for the TACOM Commanding General Situational Reports (SITREP).
Conducts after action reviews (AARs).
Applies disciplined and focused analysis of operational and mission variables to developing a full range of alternatives available to accomplish assigned missions.
Designs and administers knowledge networks and forums. Creates and manages Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Battle Drills, Continuity Books, Business Rules, and Checklists.
Implements the critical thinking process, problem solving and practical working knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP), and how to execute MDMP as an analytical tool to problem solve at the two star general officer level.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position is designated as a Key position to ensure continuity in mission and cannot be vacated during national emergency.
- May require shift work or working alternate work schedule.
- This position requires TACOM Data Analytics Skill Level 1 to be completed within one year of employment.
- Requires FEMA independent study courses to be completed within one year of employment: IS-100-Intro to the Incident Command System (ICS), IS-200- ICS for Single Resources/Initial Action Incidents, IS-700-National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Specialized experience at GS-12: Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Utilizing or assisting in the use of the Military or Rapid Decision Making Process such as resolve issues, complete requests for information, and after action reviews as part of current operations or an emergency operations center; Conducting analysis of operational variables and developing alternative solutions by working on a Crisis Action Teams (CAT) or Crisis Management Teams (CMT); Assisting in identifying knowledge gaps in staff and assisting in identifying solutions and courses of action as part of a Director/Command Staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
