About the Position: In this position you will serve as a Protocol Specialist and advisor to the organization of the Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) Command Group and Staff Communication Group of Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland.
Duties
Plans, directs and assists the arrangement, coordination and execution of protocol services, programs, and events for HQ CECOM at Aberdeen Proving Ground tenant activities as directed, and geographically dispersed CECOM subordinate elements.
Develops comprehensive plans and timelines for official and social visits and functions by analyzing and coordinating the key aspects of each event.
Participates in planning, coordinating, overseeing, and conducting special events hosted by the Commanding General.
Analyzes and evaluates the protocol program to ascertain adequacy, propriety, and completeness and to determine the degree of program accomplishment.
Establishes goals, activities, and objectives based on the Commander's intent.
Coordinates extensively with all members of the staff involved determining level and adequacy of support required for command events.
Greets visiting dignitaries representing CECOM and APG; this may include brief discussions on programs and objectives of the Command and installation.
Briefs the Commanding General/Chief of Staff on event logistics and execution elements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a valid States-side driver’s license.
- Must must be able to obtain and maintain a government driver’s license.
- Must will be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.
- May be required to perform Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Advising leadership on briefing, conferences, meetings, ceremonies and social functions involving foreign nation military and other high ranking officials; 2) Managing protocol programs for a large organization; 3) Developing, planning and executing instructions on military and civilian protocol procedures for special events, meeting and briefings; and 4) Assisting a team in the execution of protocol procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH-02 or GS-11.
