About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Behavioral health, Office of the Department of Behavioral Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Duties
Maintain files in support of assigned programs.
Serve as the local point of contact in areas that include administrative procedures, personnel management, and document control, and other administrative tasks within the department.
Monitor the Military Healthcare System (MHS), for trends, and provide analysis to leadership.
Provide training and education to individuals and large groups of staff members within the service on health system processes and systems.
Assist with annual budget, as well as monitors the budget throughout the year for the department.
Develop, maintain, and monitor statistical/demographic data points, including charts and graphs for the department.
Establish and maintain manpower database information for the assigned services.
Serve as advisor to the supervisor on administrative directorates and polices.
Requirements

Basic Requirements for the Health System Specialist GS-09:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative assistance within a healthcare facility, utilizing various database systems to analyze healthcare data, and aiding in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets for the department or clinic. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
