Duties
Serve as Supervisory, Group Practice Manager (GPM), supporting high quality, accessible, and cost-effective health care services.
Responsible for measuring/assessing service business activities with an emphasis on improving service product line performance.
Perform analysis and provides business perspective for assigned services.
Identify most resource-effective services, streamlining operations as needed and increasing efficiency.
Responsible for regularly presenting key management indicators to the service chiefs. The GPM will have oversight to ensure Access to Care standards are met.
Assist service and administrative staff in optimizing patient care and service processes.
Advise on implementation of service best practices and is a key participant in strategic planning.
Analyze enrollee health needs and makes recommendations for resourcing to meet service requirements.
Assist service chiefs on optimization-related staff development, education and training. Promotes effective vertical and horizontal communication and optimal information flow.
Attend and participates in MTF meetings and in-service training sessions.
Represent the service(s) in the assessment of data provided in support of Business Case Analysis (BCA) initiatives and command designated business process measures, e.g., Service Business Plan.
Oversee Program Management, identifying problems with Healthcare System processes and recommending alternatives to improve processes, identifying and reporting any quality improvement issues.
Coordinate and consult with supervisors and subordinates on program administrative matters.
Assist in development and execution of department and service budget and assist subordinate Health System Specialists in developing and reviewing budget plans for their services.
Analyze healthcare policies/procedures/programs to ensure they are beneficial, cost-effective, and meet quality/productivity standards.
Involved in the analysis and interpretation of service-level data in support of short-, mid-, and long-term goals associated with the allocation of fiscal, personnel, equipment, and space resources.
Utilizes both hospital and MHS strategic planning assets to assist and ensures service organizational goals are consistent with both Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) and MHS objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 1? Non-Sensitive, Low Risk clearance.
- Required to complete a 1 Year Supervisory Probationary Period if not already completed.
- This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in calculating Clinical Full-Time Equivalent (cFTE) deductions in a clinical setting; retrieving encounters and other medical data utilizing Genesis, electronic health record for the Military Health System (MHS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
